North Habersham vs. Rabun County (1/8/11 11:00am)

Saturday at North Habersham Middle School the Girls Basketball Teams were in action once more this season participating in a make-up gaming that was scheduled to happen in late December when our inclement weather occurred. Today was a tough day for North, as both teams fell to Rabun County. The 7th grade girls started out the morning, taking the lead early in the game. During the 2nd quarter, things changed in favor of Rabun County. Rabun had a commanding lead at halftime. The Bobcats went on in the game trying to create a miracle but Rabun kept fighting also and did not allow the Bobcats to score over 10 points in the 2nd half and coming away in the end with a win and the score of 41-19. The 2nd game consisted of another early lead for the Bobcats. Coach Mike Ray of the 8th Grade Bobcat Girls had not last a game since early 2009, but today many things would change. The Bobcats started out the game battling with Rabun but not consistently holding onto the ball, turnovers would be the main factor in the game. North held the lead at the end of the 1st quarter 8-6 but Rabun came out with commanding force in the 2nd quarter, scoring the first 5 points and leading the game 15-8 with 2:27 left in the half. Rabun went on to lead the Bobcats 20-12 at halftime. From then, on out the Bobcats scored 17 points and Rabun recorded 22 points in the second half and coming away with the win 42-25. Mike Ray had few words to say after the game but that his team did not show up well in many areas of today’s game.
